Best practices for automated Instagram content
Automation gets you a professional-looking image quickly. What it doesn't do automatically is make that image work well on Instagram—that still comes down to a handful of practices.
Keep it visually consistent
Pick one template style and stick with it across posts. Keep colors and fonts the same. Consistency is what makes a feed look intentional rather than like a grab-bag of different tools.
Get the data right
Use current data, not something stale from a draft you forgot to update. If a stat looks off, check it before posting—automation formats the data correctly, but it can't catch an error in the source.
Design for where it's shown
On Stories (9:16), keep text large and put the important information in the middle third, away from the UI elements at the top and bottom. On the feed (1:1), remember most people will see it first as a small thumbnail—design so it still reads at that size.
Don't let automation replace your voice
The biggest mistake is treating the generated image as the whole post. It isn't—it's the visual. Add your own caption, ask a question, use relevant tags. A well-designed graphic with a generic caption still underperforms a decent graphic with a genuine one.
Post at the right time
Share workout content right after the activity, market content during active trading hours, and anything time-sensitive as close to the moment as possible—automation's main advantage is speed, so use it.
The formula that actually works is simple: let automation handle the design, and spend the time you saved on the caption and the timing instead.
